Domaine De kervéguen, Brittany
Homemade cider made in Brittany!
The cellar is located on the north coast of Brittany in an old manor of the XV-XVI century with its spiral staircase, it’s dovecote in the middle of the orchards (6 ha) and all the outbuildings. The former stables were redeveloped in 1993 to make the cider cellar. Today, 80 barrels of 400 litres occupy the whole length of the farmhouse. This way of raising ciders is rare in France these days, since all the cider houses in the greater west are more equipped with stainless steel, polyester or fiberglass tanks. The Coquard champagne press is in operation from early November to mid-January, for the Prestige Carpe diem cuvée, a vintage of late apples stored under shelter for 2 months and a half, in the style of Jura straw wines or late harvests (passerillage).
